All-Inclusive Summer Vacations for everyone!

May through August, horseback riding is king at Coulter Lake. There are miles of trails throughout the White River National Forest, which provide outstanding views of mountains, valleys, lakes, and canyons.

The Rocky Mountains as your playground...

We offer scenic rides for novice riders through more challenging rides for experienced riders. The "do's and don'ts" of good horsemanship will be taught to all guests to ensure the enjoyment and safety of every rider.

Guests can enjoy up to two rides per day with use of the same horse throughout their stay. Beginning riders are offered lessons on basic horse handling and operation. A wrangler leads each trail ride, which is grouped according to skill level. All of our trails have sections where we can lope for those ready or wanting to learn. You will ride through valleys with trout streams and beaver ponds, through huge aspen groves, and up to high mountain meadows with amazing views.

Special attention is paid to our children's riding program. First, children must be six or older to go out on trail rides. All the kids get instruction whether in our arena area or while on the trail. Because we are smaller we can truly focus on teaching. Teens and younger kids will have their own rides or can ride as a family. Younger kids stay with their wrangler until the adults get back and enjoy playing games, exploring, or swimming.

Guided trail rides

The lake provides kids and adults alike with hours of entertainment. Take out our kayak or canoe, swim to the platform to cool off on a summer day, or try fishing on our lake stocked with rainbow trout. There is plenty of room for avid fly fisherman or kids trying to catch their first fish. There are other fishing opportunities with nearby streams with brook trout, mountain lakes, or the superb trout rivers of the Colorado or Frying Pan Rivers.

Hiking enthusiasts can step out of their cabin and take off in any direction. Rifle Mountain Park offers a beautiful canyon trail along Rifle Creek where you may catch a glimpse of rock climbers, or take the Riparian Zone trail down to Rifle Falls.

Most of our guests will enjoy a half day white water raft trip, a round of golf at the nearby Rifle Creek Golf Course with its amazing back nine through the cliffs, a massage at the spas in Glenwood, or a trip to Colorado's wineries and orchards in Palisades.
